Patrick PIOT is in charge of Business Development at Agro industries Recherches et Développements (ARD). Based near Reims, France, ARD is in the forefront of industrial biotechnologies (commodity chemicals and bio-ethanol) and bio-based chemistry. Patrick is also General Manager of Bio-amber, a joint venture that pioneered the development of the first commercially viable technology package for producing bio-based succinic acid. His role at Bio-amber is to coordinate all research and development activities, define the overall strategy, negotiate and manage the partnerships, and prepare the licensing activities planned for the years 2010 and 2011.
Prior to joining ARD, Patrick spent three years in Germany, near Cologne, where he worked for Bayer. In charge of the procurement of active ingredients for the CropScience division (pesticides) on a global level, his main responsibilities were to define the purchasing strategy and to negotiate global supply agreements with other multi-national companies. Prior to this, he worked 7 years for Rhône-Poulenc and Aventis, in various sales and purchasing positions for the pesticides division.
Patrick holds a Master of Science in Agronomy from AgroParisTech and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He speaks fluent French, English, and German.
